Sevilla have started the La Liga season strongly and have been helped by the likes of Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, and Barcelona struggling to kickstart the term.
The Rojiblancos sit seventh in La Liga and a victory over Eibar could take them to the top of the table depending on results elsewhere. Sevilla suffered their first loss of the season a week ago, 1-0, to Real Madrid.
Their loss to Real Madrid was damning as it was their first test against one of La Liga’s traditional top teams. They have got results against the lesser sides to this point and should do it again when visiting Eibar on Thursday night.
Could this be the season that tiny Eibar are relegated back to the Segunda? The Basque club are 19th in the division and have not won a match this term. Eibar have collected just two points from 15 possible with one point coming last weekend against Levante in a nil-nil draw.
Goals have been hard to come by for Eibar having scored just four times this season. They have conceded seven goals in five matches with three fixtures ending in over 2.5 goals. Eibar’s two draws, their only points, ended nil-nil.
Since Eibar began their current stint in La Liga in 2014, the Gunsmiths have played decently against Sevilla. They are unbeaten in five of their 10 games against Sevilla. However, only one of those five matches ended in a victory.
Last season, Sevilla took four points from six possible against Eibar last term. Their match at Ipurua in 2018-19 ended in a 3-1 victory for Sevilla. All four goals came in the second half after a nil-nil first 45 minutes. The scoreline flattered Eibar as their goal didn’t come until the 90th minute.
Sevilla’s Ever Banega scored twice for Sevilla. Banega is yet to score this season, but does have one assist. Joan Jordan, who scored for Eibar against Sevilla last term at Ipurua, leads the Rojiblancos in goals with two this term.
Although Sevilla have got results, they have only scored five goals. Manager Julen Lopetegui has turned Sevilla into a good defensive side conceding just two goals.
All five of Sevilla’s La Liga matches have finished with under 2.5 goals scored. Three of Sevilla’s matches have finished in wins to nil.
Lopetegui’s Sevilla have started well although just one positive result came against a team higher than 14th place currently. With Eibar struggling in the relegation zone and just two points secured, Sevilla will record another win on Thursday night.

Sevilla will win with under 2.5 goals scored and a clean sheet versus Eibar. They could move to the top of the table depending on results elsewhere.
