MK Dons welcome Liverpool to Stadium MK on Wednesday evening for a third-round EFL Cup tie.

The hosts come into the match on the back of consecutive defeats in League One, and this doesn’t bode well for MK Dons considering the strength of their next opponent.

Liverpool have won all six of their Premier League matches this season, scoring 17 goals while conceding just 5.

The Reds picked up an impressive win away at Chelsea last time out, and have now opened up a five-point gap between themselves and second-place Manchester City.

A brilliantly worked free-kick – converted by Trent Alexander-Arnold – and a Roberto Firmino header was enough to give Liverpool the win.

On the other hand, MK Dons are sitting 15th in the League One table with a record of W4-D0-L5.

It’s been a mixed campaign so far for MK Dons, and they currently find themselves with a goal difference of –2, having conceded 13 league goals this term.

They have lost their last two league games 1-0, and failed to make home advantage count in both of those matches.

MK Dons would love to cause an upset on Wednesday, but manager Paul Tisdale will know that it’s going to be an extremely tough test.

The hosts will be without defender Baily Cargill as he continues to recover from an ankle injury, but Callum Brittain is likely to feature following a spell on the sidelines.

As for Liverpool, Xherdan Shaqiri will miss out due to injury, but Naby Keita is expected to return to first team action following his hip problem.

Elswehere, Divock Origi and Alisson continue to their rehabilitations and will not feature on Wednesday.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is likely to ring the changes as he looks to freshen up his team in order to compete in four separate competitions this season.

This will be the very first meeting between the two teams following MK Don’s rebranding in 2004.

Despite no previous head-to-head record, it isn’t difficult to predict what will happen in this match.

Liverpool are flying at the moment, and a trip to a League One side shouldn’t pose any problems for Jurgen Klopp’s men.

Forebet predicts a comfortable Liverpool victory.
