Augsburg have made a poor start to the new Bundesliga campaign. Martin Schmidt’s side are yet to win in the German top-flight this season.
They will be desperate to pick up that first win of the campaign when they return to action in a home game against Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday afternoon.
The home side has suffered defeats against Dortmund and Werder Bremen. In fact, the only point they have picked up so far was in a disappointing 1-1 home draw against Bundesliga new boys Union Berlin.
Augsburg’s start to the new league is unfortunately for the home side just a continuation of last season’s poor end of campaign form. In fact, they are now winless in eight league matches, having suffered six defeats.
A record of one win in their last five home games in the German top-flight is a poor one. A poor defensive record in those recent home games in the league has played their part in Augsburg’s poor recent league struggles. They have kept just one clean sheet in their last eight home matches.

Eintracht Frankfurt have beaten Hoffenheim and Fortuna Dusseldorf but suffered a 2-1 defeat at in-form RB Leipzig. It has not been a disastrous start to the league campaign for Adi Hutter’s side, though. A win in this clash would mean that the visitors have taken nine points from a possible 12, which is a reasonable return at the start of the campaign.
Portuguese forward Goncalo Paciencia has proven a highly capable replacement for the departed Luka Jovic. The 25-year-old has scored twice in the opening three league matches. He will be confident of adding to his goal tally considering Augsburg’s poor defensive record of late.
Forebet predicts more misery for Augsburg, with Eintracht Frankfurt recording a victory in a high-scoring encounter.
