Hull to grab much needed win against Wigan

Hull to grab much needed win against Wigan
    11/09/19 2195

Hull City’s sequence of matches without a win in the Championship stretched to 4 matches just prior to the international break after they drew 1-1 away at Millwall, but they have a great chance to grab all three points this Saturday when they return to their KCOM Stadium.

Hull have registered just 1 win so far this season which was a 2-1 home win against Reading, but since then, Hull have drawn with Brentford and Millwall, but have also suffered back-to-back defeats on home turf at their KCOM Stadium to Blackburn Rovers and Bristol City in 1-0 and 3-1 losses respectively.

It hasn’t been the best of starts for Hull City and Tigers manager, Grant McCann, but although the hosts have recorded just 1 win out of their last 5 matches on home turf, they’d previously put together a decent 12-match sequence without defeat which included 9 victories, so McCann will be hoping his side can rekindle this form.

Hull also possess some key attacking personnel in the shape of forwards Grosicki and Bowen who scored a total of 31 goals between them last season.

Visitors, Wigan Athletic, made a bright start to their new Championship campaign when they recorded a 3-2 home win over relegated Cardiff City, but this is where Wigan’s highlights so far this term have ended for the time being.

The Latics have since slumped to 5 matches without a win which consists of 4 defeats and 1 draw with losses being incurred against Preston North End, Leeds United, Middlesbrough and QPR, while gaining a point in a 0-0 draw at home with Barnsley.

Wigan were another side that had enjoyed a decent spell of results last season under manager Paul Cook, as the visitors had lost just 1 of their last 9 matches at the end of last term which prevented The Latics from being dragged into a relegation fight, but with just 1 win so far in this new campaign, it looks like Cook may have to work his magic again on this Wigan side.

This especially looks the case as Wigan have lost all three of their away matches in the Championship to date as they’ve suffered losses at Preston North End, Middlesbrough and QPR, conceding 7 goals and scoring just 1 in reply in the process.

Both teams therefore head into this clash in ordinary form but Hull look the more likely to grab the points here.
