On Thursday night, Norway will look to get their Euro 2020 qualifying campaign back on track as the Scandinavian team hosts Malta in Oslo.
Norway have made an inconsistent start to their qualifying campaign. They are unbeaten in three outings since a 2-1 defeat in Spain on gameweek one. Last time out, Lars Lagerback’s side recorded a 2-0 win in the Faroe Islands.
The home side may not have started their qualifying campaign in a highly positive manner, but they have been impressive in front of goal. In fact, they have found the net at least twice in their last three European Championship qualifiers.
Norway have a poor recent overall record in qualifying. The recent win over the Faroe Islands ended a six-game winless run in qualifying for the Scandinavian team.
One minor positive for Norway is that they have a decent home record in European Championship qualifying, losing just once in seven home games. However, they have also failed to win in three home qualifiers. On the flip side, they have managed to score at least two goals in four of their last five qualifiers on home soil.
The visitors made a winning start to their campaign with a 2-1 win over the Faroe Islands. However, they have lost their last three Euro 2020 qualifiers against Spain, Sweden and last time out Romania, failing to score in all of the defeats.
The visitor's failing to score is not surprising, as Malta have now failed to score in five of their last six qualifiers.
Malta have not won an away qualifier for the European Championships, stretching back 52 games to 1962. They have also failed to score in six of their last seven away qualifiers.
Norway needs a victory to get back in contention for qualification. Forebet predicts the Scandinavians will get the victory they want in a high-scoring clash.
