Luton Town will be hoping they can build upon last Saturday’s resounding 3-1 win away at fellow newly-promoted Barnsley, when they return to Kenilworth Road for this weekend’s clash against Championship strugglers, Huddersfield Town.

That win against The Tykes was Luton’s first of this new Championship season and therefore ended a dismal start of 4 league matches without a win to get them off and running in what is expected to be a tough campaign for The Hatters.

Luton had previously gained just 1 point from these first 4 matches of the second tier season, thanks to their 3-3 draw at home against Middlesbrough in the season’s curtain-raiser at Kenilworth Road.

However, the hosts will be searching a third win on the trot on Saturday as they also registered a 3-0 win away at Cardiff City in the 2nd round of the League Cup, and manager, Graeme Jones, will be hoping his side can transfer this form into Saturday’s encounter against Huddersfield.

A League Cup 1st round 3-1 win against Ipswich Town makes it 3 wins from Luton Town’s last 5 matches overall, so it’s not all bad news for Hatters’ fans.

If Luton Town’s start to this new Championship season has been average to dismal, then Huddersfield Town’s has been bordering on disastrous by comparison as The Terriers sit second from bottom in the early Championship league standings, and only on goal difference too.

Huddersfield have lost 4 of their first 5 matches of this new campaign with defeats to Derby County, Fulham, Cardiff City and Reading, and a trip to newly-promoted Luton Town may cause them a few problems too.

The visitors have managed to scrape just 1 point so far this season and this poor return for a club that’s only recently been relegated from the Premier League has already resulted in a managerial casualty.

Former boss, Jan Siewart, was shown the door as he’d failed to demonstrate that his methods was liable to turn around Huddersfield’s ailing fortunes, and they head down to Luton having lost their last 4 away matches on the trot.

A couple of key departures have also done some damage to Huddersfield as midfielders, Mooy and Billing have since left the Yorkshire club, and the only highlight so far for the visitors is forward Ahearne-Grant’s 3 goals so far this term.

Luton Town will be on the front foot here and their attacking approach may be too much for a subdued Huddersfield Town outfit.
