Reigning Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich opened their title defence with a 2-2 home draw against Hertha Berlin last weekend. The Bavarians will look to return to winning ways when they visit Schalke’s VELTINS-Arena on Saturday evening.
Schalke endured their worst Bundesliga season in 30 years last season after finishing in the Champions League spots in the previous campaign.
David Wagner’s team made a solid start to this season by picking up a point at Borussia Monchengladbach on the opening weekend.
The draw means that the home side are unbeaten in five matches in the German top-flight. However, their last four league matches have ended all square and they have recorded just two wins in their last 17 Bundesliga games.
One positive for Schalke is that they have now conceded just once in their last four Bundesliga matches.

Their home form in the Bundesliga is worrying, though, as the home side have failed to win in eight league matches at the VELTINS-Arena. They have suffered five defeats and picked up just three draws in that period.
Bayern Munich look to have a major fight on their hands to retain their Bundesliga crown this season. Arch-rivals Dortmund look even stronger than last season, so the opening day draw against Hertha at the Allianz was a blow.
However, Bayern head into this clash undefeated in their last 15 Bundesliga outings. The Bavarians have also scored at least twice in three of their last four matches in the German top-flight.
The reigning German champions are undefeated in their last six games on their travels. However, three of their last four Bundesliga matches away from home have finished all square. One clean sheet in eight away games in the German top-flight is not a great record either for the champions.
Forebet predicts that Bayern will record their first league win of the season in a high-scoring clash.
