For much of last season, Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United looked set to finally seal their return to the Premier League. However, a late-season wobble in form saw the Whites miss out on promotion from the Championship.
However, the side from Yorkshire has once again made a promising start to their Championship campaign. Bielsa’s side will look to continue that stellar start to the campaign when Brentford visit Elland Road on Wednesday night.
Leeds have kicked off the new season by recording wins over Bristol City and Wigan, while also drawing at home against Nottingham Forest. The results have been enough for Bielsa’s team to claim top spot.
The Whites late collapse last season in the second tier was not helped by their usual strong form slipping, as Bielsa’s team failed to win any of their last four matches on home soil in the Championship. Both teams scored in those aforementioned four winless matches.
Brentford finished 11th place in the Championship table after an unconvincing run of form during the middle of last season.
The Bees inconsistent form has continued at the beginning of this season, as the visitors have picked up four points from a possible nine so far. Last time out, Hull City held Thomas Frank’s side to a 1-1 draw at Griffin Park.
One encouraging factor for the Bees is that they are unbeaten in three away matches dating back to last season, having won their last two Championship games on their travels. A trip to Elland Road will be a test of that undefeated run.
Their recent away games in the second tier have been low-scoring, with under 2.5 goals scored in five of their last seven away games.
Forebet predicts that Leeds will record a victory in a low-scoring game to continue their stellar start to the new campaign.
