Despite starting the new Championship season with a 2-1 defeat away at Swansea City, Hull City have once again shown their resilience by bouncing back with a 3-match sequence without a defeat in the matches that followed that early setback.
Hull returned to their KCOM Stadium in the next league match and registered a 2-1 home win over Reading which was a welcome 3-point haul for The Tigers and also their new manager, Grant McCann, who replaced former boss, Nigel Adkins.
The Tigers then followed that opening league win in the Championship with a convincing 3-0 win away at League One side, Tranmere Rovers, in the League Cup which was then promptly followed by a decent point in London on the weekend.
Hull grabbed a decent point in a 1-1 draw away at Griffin Park against Brentford on Saturday afternoon which will give the hosts plenty of confidence ahead of their clash on Tuesday night with Blackburn Rovers.
Hull will also take confidence from the fact that they’ve lost just 1 of their last 15 matches at their KCOM Stadium.
Onto Blackburn Rovers and Tuesday night’s visitors started their new season in the worst possible way as Rovers suffered back-to-back defeats early on in the piece with a 2-1 defeat at home to Charlton Athletic who had been newly promoted from League One.
A second league defeat happened afterwards with a 2-0 defeat down in London when they lost to Fulham at Craven Cottage, and the early signs certainly weren’t great for Tony Mowbray and his squad.
However, Blackburn also showed resilience in bouncing back from these defeats to post a League Cup 3-2 win over Oldham Athletic and then a 1-0 home win against one of Mowbray’s former club, Middlesbrough on Saturday afternoon.
It should be noted though that both of Blackburn’s recent bounce-back wins were recorded on home turf at Ewood Park, while results away from home will need to improve this season if the visitors are to make a top half finish this time around.
With just 3 away wins from their last 18 matches on the road in the Championship, Blackburn are by no means guaranteed of all three points in this encounter at the KCOM Stadium.
With Blackburn’s poor away results in mind, Hull City could edge the points on Tuesday night.
