Gangwon to continue unbeaten run against Gyeongnam

Gangwon to continue unbeaten run against Gyeongnam

Two teams who have enjoyed contrasting fortunes of late in the K-League, Gangwon and Gyeongnam meet on Friday morning at the Chuncheon Songam Stadium.

The two teams have very different objectives this season. Gangwon are currently fourth place in the table and attempting to consolidate a top-six spot, while Gyeongnam are just looking to stay off the bottom of the table.

The home side are currently enjoying a six-match unbeaten run in the South Korean top-flight, while the visitors have failed to win in 16 league matches. There is one minor positive for Gyeongnam, though, as they have at least drawn four of their last five league outings in the K-League.

Gangwon’s recent league matches have offered good entertainment value, as six of their last seven games have produced over 2.5 goals. Both teams have also scored in six of their last seven K-League outings.

In contrast, Gyeongnam’s recent league matches have been relatively low-scoring, with under 2.5 goals scored in four of their last five matches. However, both teams have also scored in eight of their last nine league games.

The home side will look to young forward Cho Jae-Wan to provide the attacking inspiration, as the 23-year-old has scored five times in his seven league appearances this season.

Fellow youngster Kim Ji-Hyun has also scored three times in his last two league appearances for the hosts, so the home side have forward pair in form.

Gangwon’s recent home record in the K-League at least offers the visitors some hope of a result, as they have won just three of their last eight matches on home soil, suffering five defeats in the process.

What does not bode well for an away victory is the fact that Gyeongnam have failed to win in 11 matches on their travels in the K-League.

Forebet predicts that Gyeongnam will experience yet more disappointment in this clash, going down to a defeat in a high-scoring clash.
