Bottom vs Title Contender in the Veikkausliiga

Bottom vs Title Contender in the Veikkausliiga
    14/06/19 2348

We are well underway in the 2019 Veikkausliiga and this weekend we have some top fixtures to enjoy.  Arguably the most intriguing is the meeting between KPV and FC Inter.

KPV begin the weekend sitting bottom of the league and have just 6 points to show from their nine games played.  FC Inter on the other hand are in third place with 17 points from ten matches played.  Will this be an easy away win or could we see an upset?

It has been an awful start to the 2019 campaign for KPV and they have won one game in the Veikkausliiga.  They have played ten, won one, drawn three and lost six.  Defensively they have been very poor and have conceded 17 goals in their nine matches.  KPV have also struggled offensively, netting just 6 goals this season.

Trends show they have won only one of their last twelve games but did manage to record a victory last time out at Honka. It was a narrow 1-0 win but may have given them the boost they need to start winning more games this season.

KPV have managed to score in four of their last five league matches but keeping a clean sheet remains an issue.  Trends show they have kept just two clean sheets in their ten league games this season.  They have also managed to score just 1 goal in five home matches, which is very disappointing.

FC Inter were sitting top of the table prior to the final round of games before the international break.  They lost that match 3-2 at home against Ilves, who have since moved above them to the top of the league.

That was Inter FC’s fourth defeat of the season but their first in six matches.  Prior to the loss, they won four and were held in one of their five games.  The draw came away to HIFK and was prior to the home defeat against Ilves.

Trends show Inter FC have won one of their last four away league matches, which came at Mariehamn in May. They have seen both teams score in each of their last seven away Veikkausliiga and have scored 2 or more goals in five of their last eight on the road.

Looking ahead to the team news and KPV should be at full strength for this match.  They have no suspension worries and every player is fit for selection.  Hendrik Helmke is a key player and the German has 3 goals from midfield.

FC Inter are monitoring two players as Alvaro Muniz and Albion Ademi missed the previous match due to injury.  Timo Furuholm is set to start the game in attack and has 5 goals to his name this season.

KPV may have won last time out but their home performances have been awful this season.  FC Inter will see this as an opportunity to get back to winning ways and could do so with a clean sheet.
