On Friday night, North Macedonia host Poland at the Telekom Arena, in Group G of qualifying for Euro 2020.
North Macedonia have made a good start to their qualifying campaign, picking up four points from their opening two games against Latvia and last time out Slovenia.
In fact, the home side heads into this clash on a four-game unbeaten run. The aforementioned 1-1 draw in Slovenia ended a three-game winning run for the Macedonians. They have also been relatively prolific in front of goal of late, scoring at least twice in three of their last four internationals.
The home sides good start to qualification means they are third in the group, just two points behind the leaders who are top, while level with second-place Israel on points.
North Macedonia are seven games unbeaten on home soil, having won their last six home matches. Once again, their attacking prowess has been the key to their recent good home form, as they have scored at least two goals in their last six matches on home soil.
Poland have kicked off their qualifying campaign with a win in Austria and a home victory over Latvia. In the absence of a European superpower in the group, the Poles are the favourites to qualify for Euro 2020.
Although Poland have been in decent recent form, their international matches of late have been low-scoring, with under 2.5 goals scored in their last five outings.
The visitors have a respectable record in European Championship qualifying in recent years, as they have lost just once in 17 outings, winning four of their last five qualifiers. They have also scored at least two goals in four of their last five matches in qualification for the European Championships.
However, Poland’s recent away record in qualifying is inconsistent, as they have won just one of their last four matches on their travels.
