On Saturday afternoon, Iceland host Albania in Group H of qualifying for Euro 2020, as both teams look for a victory to improve their qualification hopes.
Iceland kicked off their campaign with a 2-0 win in Andorra before a 4-0 trouncing at world champions France in their second group game.
The aforementioned victory over Andorra ended a run of 17 official games without a win for the Nordic team, who have struggled for results of late despite qualifying for the last two big international tournaments.
The home side has a real mixed record in qualifying for the European Championships. However, a record of just one win in their last five qualifiers is not a great one.
However, Iceland’s recent home record in qualifying for the European Championships is an encouraging one, as they are unbeaten in six matches, having recorded four wins and two draws. Those two draws were their last two home games in qualifying for Euro 2016.
A key to the decent recent home record is their attacking displays, as the home side has scored at least two goals in four of their last five qualifiers.
Albania have a mixed recent record in international football. However, they have recorded just three wins in 11 matches, which is not particularly impressive.
The visitors started their campaign with a 2-0 home defeat against Turkey before defeating group whipping boys Andorra 3-0.
Albania have endured mixed fortunes in European Championship qualifying of late, having lost three and won two of their last five matches in qualifying.
However, they have an impressive recent away record in European Championship qualifiers, as they are unbeaten in five matches on their travels, having recorded four wins and a draw. They have also not conceded a goal in those five unbeaten games.
There is not much between the pair so far in the group. However, Forebet predicts that Iceland will record a victory in a low-scoring clash.
