Nottingham Forest will look to round off their season with a third win on the trot at their City Ground when they entertain already relegated Bolton Wanderers to give their fans something to cheer about during the summer months.

Recent back-to-back wins against Middlesbrough (3-0 at home) and QPR (1-0 away) would have been welcome relief for Forest manager Martin O’Neill who had seen his side stumble to four defeats on the trot to Rotherham United, Sheffield Wednesday, Blackburn Rovers and Sheffield United which effectively put to bed any lingering hopes they might have had of a possible top six finish.

It’s been yet another disappointing season for Forest who again promised greater things especially at the start of the season where the hosts suffered just 2 defeats out of their first 20 matches of the campaign.

Since then, however, Forest’s inconsistencies have re-surfaced and they’ve produced mixed results throughout the season - but six wins out of their last eight matches at home should see them grab a third win on the trot here.

12 of Forest’s 22 home matches have seen over 2.5 goals.

Bolton Wanderers head into the final day of the season no doubt looking forward to the end of what has been a totally forgettable campaign for The Trotters who have already been relegated down to League One.

More serious matters continue to haunt them off the field in terms of financial insecurity, while they make their way to the City Ground on Sunday on the back of five defeats on the trot in the Championship.

Losses to Ipswich Town, Middlesbrough, Derby County, Aston Villa and Blackburn Rovers helped condemn Bolton to the drop and they look entirely powerless to avoid a sixth defeat, even against an inconsistent Nottingham Forest outfit.

On the road, Bolton Wanderers have lost 11 of their last 13 matches on their travels, so it looks extremely unlikely that they’ll grab all three points in this encounter.

Bolton possess the 6th worst defensive record away from home in the Championship though, so the goals market may be the best option for this clash; the visitors also have nothing to lose and will want to go out with a bang as they prepare for life in the third tier next season.

Over 2.5 goals looks likely in this clash.
