The German Bundesliga continues to excite this season and it is not only the title race which is providing plenty of drama.

The battle for the European places below the top two is also causing a lot of excitement and on Monday night, Wolfsburg entertain Eintracht Frankfurt at the Volkswagen Arena.

Wolfsburg are chasing a place in the Europa League for next season and find themselves in 9th place at the beginning of the weekend. A win could be enough to move them up to 6th place, which sees European qualification.

Eintracht Frankfurt are in 4th place and chasing a Champions League place.  With Borussia Monchengladbach just behind them, a win is key.

Wolfsburg come into this game having lost 2-0 away to RB Leipzig last weekend.  That result means they have lost two of their last three matches although the other defeat came at Borussia Dortmund, meaning both were tough games.

Trends show Wolfsburg have remained undefeated in seven of their last eight home matches in all competitions.  Five of those games have ended in wins and all of the victories have come in the Bundesliga.  Wolfsburg have scored 2 more goals in five of their last seven home Bundesliga matches but have failed to keep a clean sheet in four of the last five.

Eintracht Frankfurt sealed their place in the semi-final of the Europa League on Thursday night by defeating Benfica 2-0 at home. They came back from a 4-2 loss in Portugal to win the tie on away goals and book an enticing semi-final with Chelsea.

That wins reversed a run of two straight defeats for Eintracht Frankfurt, one of which was at Benfica and the other at home to Augsburg in the Bundesliga.  They cannot afford to drop more points following a Europa League game if they want to remain in control of 4th place.

Trends show Eintracht Frankfurt are on an unbeaten run of six away games in the Bundesliga without defeat.  They have won each of their last three on the road, defeating Hannover, Fortuna Dusseldorf and Schalke, scoring 2 or more goals in each match.

Eintracht Frankfurt have scored 2 or more goals in five of their last six away Bundesliga games.

Team news and Wolfsburg have five players with fitness issues.  Paul Verhaegh, William, Jerome Roussillon, Felix Klaus and Yannick Gerhardt are the players struggling.

Eintracht Frankfurt will need to assess their squad following the match on Thursday but Taleb Tawatha is definitely out for the season.  Striker Sebastien Haller will be monitored day-to-day to see if he is fit to participate.

This has the makings of a very exciting match in the Bundesliga and we should see plenty of goalmouth action.  However, Eintracht Frankfurt are in good away form and will be riding high after their Europa League success, which should see them take maximum points.
