On Saturday afternoon, Stuttgart host RB Leipzig at the Mercedes Benz Arena in the Bundesliga, with both sides in need of points for very different reasons.

VfB Stuttgart are currently in the relegation play-off spot, just a point clear of the relegation zone, but three points away from the safety of 15th place. A winless run of six games in the Bundesliga, including five defeats, has led to Stuttgart’s current position.

Last time out the home side suffered a 3-0 defeat at Fortuna Dusseldorf, which saw Stuttgart concede at least two goals for the sixth straight Bundesliga match. The home side’s poor recent defensive record has led to their last five league matches producing over 2.5 goals.

Stuttgart’s recent home form in the Bundesliga has been poor, as they have failed to win in three games, picking up a draw and losing twice. Their recent home games in the league have been high scoring, with over 2.5 goals scored in seven of their last eight matches.

RB Leipzig are currently in the final Champions League spot in the Bundesliga. They are five points clear of fifth-place, but also four points behind third place.

The visitor’s recent league form has been inconsistent, but three wins from their last five Bundesliga games is not a terrible record for Ralf Rangnick’s side. Leipzig have been solid in defence in recent league outings, as a goalless draw with Eintracht Frankfurt means the visitors have kept clean sheets in their last three Bundesliga matches.

RB Leipzig’s recent away form has been inconsistent of late in the German top-flight, winning three and losing three of their last six league games on their travels. Their recent away games in the German top-flight have been relatively high scoring, with over 2.5 goals scored in three of their last four matches.

Forebet predicts that RB Leipzig will record a victory in a high scoring game to add to Stuttgart’s relegation worries.
