Following quickly on from the mid-week action we have a full quota of Premier League matches to look forward to on the weekend.  On Saturday there is an important game at Turf Moor which will have a huge impact at the bottom of the table.

Burnley host Southampton, with the home team sitting in 17th place, 4 points clear of the relegation zone and the away team on the same number of points but one place higher due to a superior goal difference.  A win for either team would be a huge boost towards survival.

Burnley come into this match in good form in the Premier League and they picked up a point in a 2-2 draw at Manchester United on Tuesday night. The Clarets led the match 2-0 and will feel disappointed to have conceded 2 late goals but it was another step in the right direction for Sean Dyche’s team.

Trends show Burnley have lost just once in their last seven games and that was in the FA Cup against Manchester City.  In the Premier League they have remained undefeated in their last five matches, winning three and drawing two.

Home form has been much better and Burnley have won each of their last three games, two of which were in the Premier League against West Ham United and Fulham.  Burnley have won four of their last five home matches and have kept a clean sheet in three of those five games.

Southampton picked up a point at home in mid-week against Crystal Palace. Having trailed 1-0, the Saints came back to equalise but could not make the one man advantage count towards the end to win the match.

Trends show Southampton are unbeaten in their last six games and the only disappointment was the loss to Derby County but that was on a penalty shootout.  However, winning matches has still not been easy for the Saints and they have drawn four of those six games.

Premier League form shows Southampton have remained undefeated in their last four games.  They have beaten Leicester City away and Everton at home plus picked up a point at Chelsea and at home against Crystal Palace.

Away from home in the Premier League trends show Southampton are undefeated in their last three games, defeating Huddersfield Town and Everton plus picking up a point at Chelsea.  Both teams have scored in nine of their last ten games in all competitions.

Team news and Burnley will be without the injured duo of Aaron Lennon and Jonathan Walters.  They also have doubts over Robbie Brady and Matt Lowton and Dyche may go with the same XI that started at Old Trafford.

Southampton are still without the injured Michael Obafemi plus they have doubts over Ryan Bertrand and Mario Lemina.  Maya Yoshida is still at the Asian Cup and will not return until next week.

This could be an exciting game, with both teams scoring goals but it is difficult to separate them and they could both keep their unbeaten runs going with a draw.
