Can Huddersfield stop Manchester City? That is the question after Pep Guardiola’s team collected consecutive wins over Southampton, Liverpool, and Wolverhampton Wanderers. The Cityzens will travel to Huddersfield on Sunday with three points almost assured.

Manchester City have outscored their opponents 8-2 in their last three matches and goals should be expected at the John Smith’s Stadium. Manchester City blitzed Huddersfield back in August 6-1. Sunday’s game may not be a matter of if Manchester City win, rather it will be about how many goals they will score.

Huddersfield parted ways with manager David Wagner this week. The two sides recognised things weren’t going to improve under the manager and both agreed to end the relationship. Mark Hudson has been given the reins in what should be an impossible task. Huddersfield didn’t just lose Wagner, however. Sporting director Olaf Rebbe left the club as well.

The Terriers are still just eight points from safety. Yet, those eight points might as well be 80. Huddersfield have won just two times this term while conceding 37 goals. The team has posted a –24-goal difference and that figure should increase after Manchester City plunder the Terriers’ goal.

Since 2000, Manchester City have not lost to Huddersfield. The Cityzens have posted three wins and three draws. In the teams’ three games since Huddersfield won promotion to the Premier League, Manchester City have won twice and drawn once.

Manchester City are scoring goals for fun and there have been over 2.5 goals scored in their last six league games. It hasn’t just been the Premier League that the Cityzens have been scoring in as they romped past Burton in the Carabao Cup semifinal 9-0.

Manchester City will play Burton once more next week as they contest the second leg of the semifinal. Guardiola could rest one or two players against Huddersfield in anticipation of the semifinal game.

Huddersfield are in a crisis on and off the pitch. The club is headed back to the Championship and its poor player recruit is partly to blame. Huddersfield have the least talented team in the Premier League and it will show on Sunday against Manchester City.

Guardiola will want to get the fixture done and dusted quickly. The Cityzen will come out all guns blazing and put things to bed early. Manchester City will win and the fixture will see at least 2.5 goals scored. With Huddersfield bringing in a new manager and things being chaotic, don’t be surprised if Manchester City put six past the Terriers once more.
