European champions Real Madrid host CSKA Moscow on Wednesday evening in the Bernabeu in Group G of the Champions League.
The Spanish giants are already through to knockout stages as group winners. However, Los Blancos will be keen to finish the group on a high note. As expected the home side have been the dominant force in Group G, winning four of their five games despite an unconvincing domestic campaign this season.
In fact, CSKA Moscow are the only team to have avoided defeat against Real Madrid this season in this competition, pulling off a 1-0 victory in the reverse fixture. The defeat in the Russian capital was one of only two games that Los Blancos have not won in their last eight Champions league outings.
The Spanish giants have been prolific in their most recent Champions League games, scoring at least twice in seven of their last eight European matches.
Real Madrid have also recorded three straight home wins in Europe’s elite competition, while also scoring at least two goals in six of their last seven European games at the Bernabeu.
CSKA Moscow are currently third place in the group but are level on points with fourth place Viktoria Plzen. The Russian side would drop down into the Europa League as it stands.
However, if they suffer defeat and Viktoria Plzen gets anything from their match with Roma then the Russian side would be eliminated from European football until next season.
CSKA Moscow heads into this tough clash on the back of three straight Champions league defeats, having conceded at least two goals in all three losses. The Russian side has also won just one of their last six games in this competition. However, that one win came in that aforementioned win in the reverse fixture.
Forebet predicts that Real Madrid will record a comfortable win in a high scoring clash to end the group stage on a high.
