Watford’s woes to continue against Everton

Watford’s woes to continue against Everton

Watford are winless in their last five Premier League games with four of those matches ending in losses. Now, Javi Gracia will lead the Hornets up against their former manager Marco Silva on Monday night.

Everton sit sixth with just two losses in their last six matches. The Toffees suffered a devastating injury time loss to Liverpool last weekend before drawing with Newcastle at Goodison in midweek. Silva is aiming to get Everton back to winning ways and Watford are the perfect team to face right now.

Everton have been excellent at home recording 17 points from 24 possible. They have lost just once at Goodison while scoring 14 goals and conceding seven. Richarlison continues to play well for Everton. He has tallied seven goals in 13 games. Midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson has added six this term along with two assists. Everton’s biggest problem has been their reliance on the duo. Thirteen of Everton’s 21 goals have been tallied by either Richarlison or Sigurdsson.

Watford go into the fixture with a –3-goal difference. Despite starting the season well, the Hornets continue to sink down the table. Players are not in-form and just two goals have been scored in their last five games. All of which have ended without a win. Roberto Pereyra continues to be Watford’s leading scorer with five goals. He has now gone five games without scoring, however. Gracia needs to figure out a way to get his strikers scoring again.

Little has separated Everton and Watford in their last six games. Both teams have recorded two wins while two matches have ended in draws. They have each scored nine goals in those six games with Watford players registering 14 yellow cards to Everton’s five. Everton are undefeated at Goodison during their six-game span against Watford. Last season, Everton won 3-2 at home in a shootout with the Hornets. Three times in their last six meetings, the two clubs have combined for over 2.5 goals. However, Watford’s last six Premier League away games have seen fewer than 2.5 goals.

Watford’s away form has been dreadful. The Hornets have not won in 17 of their last 19 away matches. Moreover, the Hornets have been held scoreless in 11 of their previous 15 games away from Vicarage Road. Their form is terrible which will aid Everton on Monday night. The Toffees will get the win and hold Watford scoreless yet again at Goodison Park.
