Drogheda set for big victory over Finn Harps

Drogheda set for big victory over Finn Harps

On Monday night, Drogheda United host Finn Harps at Hunky Dorys Park in the Irish First Division.

The home side are currently third-place in the second tier table after winning two of their three league games so far this season. Last time out the home side drew 2-2 with promotion rivals Galway United.

Drogheda will be looking for an instant return to the Irish top-flight after relegation last season. They do have a decent recent record in the second tier, having won four of their last six games in the First Division dating back to their last spell in the league in 2016.

Their recent games in the First Division have offered entertainment value, as their last four league outings have produced over 2.5 goals.

Drogheda has a strong recent home record in the league, winning seven of their last ten games in the First Division while suffering just one defeat. The home side has also been prolific on home soil in the First Division, scoring two or more goals in six of their last seven home games.

Just like their opponents, Finn Harps suffered relegation from the top-flight last season. The Harps have made a good start to life back in the second tier, a league they last graced back in 2015, winning two of their three games so far. The Harps are only behind the home side due to an inferior goal difference.

Last time out Ollie Horgan’s side recorded a 1-0 win over Wexford. The game was the visitor’s third straight league game that produced under 2.5 goals. The fact that the Harps have conceded just once in their three league games so far this season is a big contributing factor to those low scoring games.

The visitors have a good away record in the First Division, winning four of their last five league outings while remaining unbeaten.

Forebet predicts that Drogheda will end that good away run for the visitors by recording a big victory in a high scoring encounter.
