On Tuesday night, St. Johnstone host Rangers at McDiarmid Park in the SPL, as the home side attempt to gatecrash the league’s top-six.

St. Johnstone are currently eighth place in the SPL table but are just six points behind the Europa League play-off spots. They are also nine points clear of the one relegation berth.

Tommy Wright’s team have been in poor form of late, as a 2-0 win over Ross County last time out in the SPL ended a seven-game run without a win for the home side. Their recent SPL games have been low scoring, with seven of their last eight league games producing under 2.5 goals, including their last four league games.

Wright’s side have a poor recent home record in the SPL. The aforementioned win over Ross ended a run of eight games without a home win in the league. They also suffered six defeats in that run of games.

Rangers are currently second-place in the table, nine points behind arch-rivals and leaders Celtic in the race for the title. However, they are just three points clear of third-place Aberdeen, as the Gers look to consolidate their spot in the Europa League for next season.

Graeme Murty’s side have won five of their last six games in the SPL, scoring two or more goals in all five victories. Last time out in the league, they defeated Hearts 2-0 at Ibrox.
