The Sunday night action in Serie A has the makings of a great match as Roma welcome AC Milan to the Stadio Olimpico.

Roma start the weekend in third place in Serie A, 15 points adrift of second place Juventus and 16 points behind the leaders, Napoli.  However, they could drop down to fifth if Lazio and Inter Milan both win their games.

AC Milan begin this weekend in seventh place, level on points with Sampdoria who are in sixth and have a superior goal difference.  AC Milan could move up one place with a win or drop one place with a defeat.

Roma come into this match having lost the first leg of their Champions League Round of 16 tie to Shakhtar Donetsk 2-1 in Ukraine.  They took the lead in the match and will disappointed to come away with a defeat, despite getting an away goal.

The Giallorossi have won their last three Serie A matches and trends show they are undefeated in fifteen of their last eighteen league games. In fact, Roma have lost just six of their last thirty-six Serie A matches and they are a tough team to beat.

However, recent home form has not been great and Roma have won only one of their last four Serie A games at the Stadio Olimpico.  They have been held to a 1-1 draw by Sassuolo and defeated by Atalanta and Sampdoria.

Interestingly, Roma have lost only one of their last twelve home league meetings with AC Milan and will be hoping to extend that run with a win in this match.

AC Milan travel to the capital having completed the job in their Europa League match on Thursday night.  The 1-0 win at home over Ludogorets saw the club progress 4-0 on aggregate having done the damage in the first leg.

The Rossoneri have been in very good form of late and new manager, Gennaro Gattuso, has brought about a revival in their season.

Trends show AC Milan have won five of their last six Serie A games, including good wins over Lazio and Sampdoria, teams currently above them in the table.  They are undefeated in their last seven league matches and this has seen them move into contention for the final Europa League qualifying place.

Away from home, AC Milan are undefeated in their last four Serie A games and have picked up two draws and two wins.  They have scored in nine of their last ten away league matches.

Team news and Roma are still without the injured duo of Maxime Gonalons and Rick Karsdorp.  Turkish midfielder Cengiz Under has been in excellent form and is sure to start this match with either Diego Perotti or Stephan El Shaarawy on the bench.

AC Milan have Andrea Conti and Marco Storari on the treatment table but Franck Kessie returns from suspension and is sure to take his place in the starting XI.

AC Milan have been in good form but Roma are difficult to beat, especially on home soil and Roma could nick the win to put a dent in AC Milan’s recent resurgence.
