Sporting KC are well placed in the Western Conference of MLS to seal a top-two finish. On Sunday, they travel to Minnesota, in a game that could prove tricky for the visitors.
Minnesota have endured an inconsistent campaign so far and are currently ninth in the Western Conference standings. United endured a very difficult start to their debut campaign in America’s top tier. However, results have improved of late for Adrian Heath’s side, as they have now won three of their last four games in MLS.
Last time out, they recorded a 3-2 win at Atlanta United. The game followed a familiar theme for Minnesota this season, which is that the game was high scoring. In fact, ten of Minnesota’s last 11 games in MLS have produced over 2.5 goals.
Heath’s side do not have a great home record in MLS, as they have won just two of their last seven league games on home soil.
The visitors are in a very healthy position in the Western Conference, third in the standings and are level on points with second place Portland Timbers, having played two fewer games than the Seattle outfit.
Sporting are also just four points behind league leaders Vancouver Whitecaps, with a game in hand on the Canadian side. A win in this game would certainly strengthen the visitor's chances of recording a top-two finish this season.
Last time out Peter Vermes team suffered a 1-0 home defeat against league leaders Vancouver. The defeat could prove crucial in the final reckoning of the table.
One major negative for Sporting this season has been there form on the road, as they have recorded just one victory from their last 11 games on their travels.
However, Forebet predicts that the visitors will improve that poor away record with a win in this clash and in the process move into the top two of the Western Conference.
