New York City FC welcome Toronto FC to Yankee Stadium on Wednesday night as second meets third in the Major League Soccer Eastern Conference.

This match is a repeat of the 2016 Eastern Conference semi-finals, a match was which won by Toronto FC, who will be looking to make their move with another victory over their American rivals.

As things stand in the Eastern Conference, New York City FC are in third, with 33 points from their 19 games played and Toronto FC are in the second, 5 points clear of New York City having played the same number of matches.  Chicago lead the way on the same number of points as Toronto FC but with a superior goal difference.

Trends show New York City FC have won five of their previous ten MLS games, with four of their wins coming in their last five games.  This shows New York City FC are in good form coming into this match but need to recover from the 3-2 defeat suffered at Vancouver Whitecaps in their previous match.

At home, New York City FC have been in good form, winning four and drawing one of their last five MLS games.  Scoring goals has not been a problem and trends show they have netted 2 or more goals in all their last five home matches.  New York City FC have scored an average of 2.2 goals in their home MLS games this season and there have been over 2.5 goals in in their last seven.

They have also conceded at least one goal in their last eight home MLS matches.

Toronto FC travel down to New York having tasted defeat only twice in their last thirteen MLS games.  However, both defeats have come in their last five games and were away from home at New England Revolution and Dallas.

Away from home, Toronto FC have won two, drawn one and lost two of their last five games.  Trends show there have been over 2.5 goals in their last three away games and Toronto FC have scored 2 or more goals in nine of their previous thirteen matches.

New York City FC will be without the injured duo of Khiry Shelton and Ronald Matarrita for this game while Miguel Camargo and Rodney Wallace are on international duty for Panama and Costa Rica respectively.  David Villa is expected to lead the line in a 4-2-3-1 formation.

Toronto FC have Nick Hagglund and Steven Beitashour missing through injury with several others, including Jozy Altidore and Justin Morrow on international duty.  Toronto FC are likely to play a 3-5-2 formation, with Sebastian Giovinco joined by Jordan Hamilton up-front.

If there is one thing which appears to be guaranteed in this match its goals.  Over 2.5 goals makes a good bet and considering the form and position of the two teams in the Easter Conference, you could combine that with the draw to create better odds.
