Monza entertain regional neighbours AC Milan at the U-Power Stadium on Sunday evening as both sides bid to extend their respective unbeaten runs.

The hosts find themselves 11th in the Serie A table, having avoided defeat in each of their last three matches. Still, they remain 22 points behind third-placed Milan, who are unbeaten in nine.

This preview contains analysis of the teams form and evaluates the key mathematics behind Sunday’s clash. So, let’s take an in-depth look at both sides.

Monza played out a 0-0 draw with Hellas Verona last weekend, recording their second consecutive goalless stalemate after holding Udinese.

The hosts have now kept a clean sheet in each of their previous three matches, with a 1-0 victory over Sassuolo coming before the back-to-back draws.

Despite sitting 11th in the table, only seven teams have conceded fewer goals than Monza this season, highlighting their defensive solidity.

That said, Monza have managed to win just two of their last nine league encounters, so they will need to be at their very best to avoid another defeat this weekend.

As for AC Milan, they cruised to a comfortable 3-0 victory over French side Rennes in the Europa League on Thursday, thanks largely to a brace from former Chelsea man Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

The Rossoneri have now won five of their last six matches across all competitions, scoring exactly three goals in four of those victories.

Better still, Milan have suffered a solitary defeat in their previous 13 encounters, racking up 10 wins in the process.

Having lost just five of their last 35 Serie A matches, Stefano Pioli’s men will be confident of picking up another positive result against their Lombardy rivals.

Head-to-head: Monza have suffered three successive defeats to Milan since gaining promotion back in 2022, conceding eight goals along the way.

Last season, the Rossoneri defeated Monza 4-1 and 1-0. In the reverse fixture this term, Milan claimed an easy 3-0 victory, despite facing 21 shots.

Team news: The hosts will be without Gianluca Caprari (knee injury) and Papu Gomez (suspension) on Sunday, while there are question marks over the fitness of Samuele Vignato.

The visitors, on the other hand, will be without injured trio Pierre Kalulu, Tommaso Pobega and Fikayo Tomori this weekend.

Given that Milan have scored eight goals in three victories over Monza since 2022, Pioli’s men look set to secure another easy win on Sunday.

Forebet’s artificial intelligence algorithm predicts that AC Milan will score over 2.5 goals and keep a clean sheet en route to crushing Monza.
