Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain welcome Clermont Foot to the Parc des Princes on Saturday evening as the 2022-23 season draws to a close.

Not only have PSG won five of the last six Ligue 1 titles, but they have also won nine of the previous 11, underlining their dominance of French football.

Having recorded 27 wins, four draws and six losses this season, the Parisians find themselves four points clear of second-placed Lens with a game to spare.

It is fair to say that PSG have not been at their best this term, suffering three defeats in six matches across March and April before drawing 1-1 with Strasbourg last weekend.

That said, having won 10 of their previous 14 league outings – scoring over 2.5 goals on six occasions – the champions will be confident of finishing the season on a high.

As for Clermont Foot, they find themselves eighth in the table – 29 points shy of PSG – having enjoyed an impressive campaign for a club of their size.

With 16 wins, eight draws and 13 losses to their name, Clermont are guaranteed a top-half finish this season, although they can’t finish higher than eighth.

Thanks to a 2-0 victory over Lorient last time out, Clermont head into the final day of the season on a run of seven wins in nine matches.

It is also worth pointing out that Clermont Foot have enjoyed plenty of success on the road in recent times, winning three of their previous six away league outings.

Head-to-head: PSG won the reverse fixture 5-0 back in August, with Lionel Messi bagging a brace on that occasion.

Since Clermont gained promotion to Ligue 1 in 2021, PSG have won all three meetings between the teams, racking up an aggregate score of 15-1.

Tem news: PSG will finish the season with Sergio Rico, Fabian Ruiz, Marquinhos, Hugo Ekitike, Nuno Mendes and Nordi Mukiele sidelined through injury.

By contrast, Clermont Foot have reported no fresh injury problems ahead of the final day, meaning head coach Pascal Gastien has a full-strength squad at his disposal.

When you look at the recent head-to-head record between PSG and Clermont, all the signs point towards another dominant victory for the champions.

With that in mind, Forebet predicts that Paris Saint-Germain will score over 2.5 goals on their way to dispatching Clermont Foot.
