Top-four rivals Inter Milan and Atalanta meet at the San Siro on Saturday night as the penultimate round of Serie A fixtures takes place.

As it stands, third-placed Inter lead fifth-placed Atalanta by five points, with AC Milan sandwiched between the two sides.

A win for the hosts would see them secure a top-four finish, while the visitors would keep their Champions League dreams alive with a victory.

Inter Milan head into Saturday’s showdown on the back of a 2-1 victory over Fiorentina in the Coppa Italia final, as Diego Simeone’s men defended their crown in midweek.

As a result, the Nerazzurri have now won nine of their previous 10 matches across all competitions, reaching the Champions League final in the process.

When you look at the bigger picture, Inter have lost just two of their last 15 outings, picking up 10 wins and three draws along the way.

It is also worth noting that only champions Napoli have scored more Serie A goals than Inter’s 67 this season, making Simeone’s men a serious threat in attack.

As for Atalanta, they ended a two-game losing run with a 3-1 victory over Hellas Verona last weekend, racking up 60% possession and 13 shots on home soil.

La Dea have now won four of their last six league outings, with six victories coming in their previous 10 encounters.

That said, Atalanta have struggled on the road in recent times, losing five of their last nine away games  while failing to score on five occasions.

Having failed to keep a clean sheet in any of their previous 11 league outings, Atalanta will struggle to achieve a shutout against the league’s second-highest scorers.

Head-to-head: Atalanta have failed to win any of their last nine meetings with Inter, recording five draws and four defeats during that period.

On top of that, La Dea have managed to win just one of their previous 13 matches against the Nerazzurri, and that victory came back in 2018.

Team news: Inter Milan will be without Brazilian defender Dalbert for the remainder of the campaign as he continues to recover from a serious knee injury.

Atalanta’s injury list contains Hans Hateboer, Simone Muratore, Jose Luis Palomino, Matteo Ruggeri, Brandon Soppy and Lukas Vorlicky.

Fresh from lifting the Coppa Italia trophy, Inter Milan will be confident of cementing their place in the top four this weekend.

Forebet predicts that Inter Milan will score over 2.5 goals on their way to overcoming Atalanta at the San Siro.
