This week sees the continuation of the EFL Trophy group stage and features this upcoming clash between League Two hosts, Tranmere Rovers, and their League One visitors, Bolton Wanderers, when the two teams meet at Prenton Park with Tranmere looking to open their account, while Bolton will be seeking to extend their lead at the top of the Northern Group B.
Tranmere Rovers sneaked a narrow 1-0 win away from home at Salford City in League Two on the weekend and grabbed a welcome three points in the process following recent back to back defeats to Leyton Orient and Bradford City.

Indeed, recent results have been patchy to say the least for Tranmere as the hosts have recorded just two wins out of their last seven matches.
The bigger picture shows that Rovers have won just four out of their last 12 matches in all competitions.
Results on home soil at Prenton Park have also taken a nose-dive as the hosts have won just two of their last seven games, losing five of these matches.
Meanwhile, Bolton Wanderers collected a fourth straight win on the trot on the weekend when they registered a solid 1-0 home win against Peterborough United in League One, which will give The Trotters winning momentum ahead of this EFL Trophy clash at Prenton Park on Tuesday night.
Previous wins against Crewe Alexandra, Charlton Athletic and MK Dons have also contributed to Bolton’s rise up the third tier ladder to 5th place.
The visitors opened their account in the EFL Trophy with the aforementioned 4-1 victory over Crewe Alexandra at their University of Bolton Stadium.
Bolton Wanderers have also been pretty consistent on their travels as well across all competitions of late as The Trotters have lost just two of their last 14 outings on the road which includes eight wins as well.
In addition, Bolton have kept six clean sheets within this period and the visitors have failed to hit the back of the net on just two occasions on their travels so The Trotters look a decent prospect for a result of some kind on Tuesday night.
Bolton have certainly found more ways to win than Tranmere in recent times and the visitors should run out winners again in Group B at Prenton Park.
