Crystal Palace will welcome Aston Villa to Selhurst Park this weekend as Steven Gerrard looks to continue the winning form after beating Everton last weekend just as the Eagles aim to build on their fantastic result at Anfield last time out.

Palace were previously the only team to beat Liverpool at Anfield with fans in attendance, which dates back two years ago.

They then travelled to Merseyside knowing that they needed a win to boost them up the table after losing to Arsenal so easily on the opening day of Premier League action.

Patrick Vieira saw just three shots on target that day for his men, and with the likes of Wilfried Zaha looking lost in the game, the Frenchman needed the perfect display to get a draw at Anfield.

Zaha did score that day on a fabulous counter attack from the away side, to which the Ivory Coast international slotted the ball beautifully past Alisson.

Palace continued to threaten Liverpool throughout the game with counter attack after counter attack. Alisson would be tested throughout, and with the Liverpool keeper having to pull all the stops out to stop them from taking a 2-0 lead, it’s fair to say that Palace gave it a very good go and were unlucky not to get all three points that day. Luis Diaz was the difference for the Reds and the Eagles eventually getting a point. Vieira’s side saw four shots on target in that game.

As for Villa, they’ve taken a similar route to getting into this game, besides their matchup with a Merseyside outfit ended in a victory for Gerrard’s side.

The Midlands outfit eased to a win over the Toffees with Danny Ings and Emi Buendia scoring a goal each, with both goals very smartly taken and well worked. Lucas Digne got the goal for Everton in the 2-1 win, as the Frenchman scored an own goal against his own side.

Villa saw 58% of the ball that day against Frank Lampard’s side, and with them losing 2-0 to Bournemouth just a week prior, this should now be the lift the club needed after such a fantastic transfer window. Against Bournemouth, despite seeing nearly 70% of ball possession, Villa had just two shots on target all game long.

Forebet predicts a win here for Palace and for the game to see under 2.5 goals with only two points separating the two early on in the Premier League.
