Blackburn Rovers will be in search of win number five in a row at the start of the 2022/23 season with Jon Dahl Tomasson's proving to be one of the top sides in the Championship after a handful of games with them travelling to the Select Car Leasing Stadium to clash with a topsy-turvy Reading side.

It's been a perfect start across the board for Rovers, who after conceding a goal to West Bromwich Albion have now only conceded a single goal in their four games to this point.

The club kicked things off with a win over Queens Park Rangers as Lewis Travis scored from the four efforts on goal after nine attempts in total.

Although it wasn't a thrilling game against QPR, it was a comfortable display in the end from the home side. However, it was in the victory against Swansea City where they managed to seriously establish themselves as competitors in this division at the top end.

Sammie Szmodics scored just before the first half to give them the lead, before Ben Brereton Diaz managed to get his first goal of the season.

Travis netted his second goal of the season to conclude things in the 3-0 win, but with Blackburn seeing 29% of the ball and having just four shots on target, there was a lot to improve on in what was a tactically-astute performance.

The winning run kept going with the hosting of Hartlepool in the EFL Cup, as Rovers ran riot on home soil. Scott Wharton scored in the first half, before Bradley Dack got his first goal in many months in the second half.

The club saw 74% of the ball that day with eight shots on target, as Tyrhys Dolan and Dilan Markanday scored in the second 45 to give the club a 4-0 win to make it eight goals in the first three games.

Last time out, Blackburn met with West Brom where Ben Diaz netted another goal with Sam Gallagher finally getting in on the act with his first goal of the season. The Baggies did net a goal in the second half, but this remains Blackburn's only goal conceded from four games in the EFL.

It's been a tough start for Reading, on the other hand, who have lost to Blackpool and Rotherham, while also beating Cardiff City 2-1 in the league. A further loss to Stevenage in the EFL Cup has made this start to the new season a disastrous one for the Royals.

Forebet predicts a win for Blackburn and over 2.5 goals in the game.
