Matchday 3 of the 2022-23 Bundesliga season gets underway on Friday night, with Borussia Monchengladbach hosting Hertha Berlin at Borussia-Park.

Hertha Berlin find themselves fourteenth in the table – one point clear of the bottom – having taken a solitary point from their opening two games.

At the opposite end of the standings, Borussia Monchengladbach sit third – three points ahead of Hertha and two points behind Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund.

Gladbach kicked off their campaign with a 3-1 victory over Hoffenheim. Not only did they enjoy 62% possession, but they also registered up 18 shots.

In their second game, Gladbach claimed a 2-2 draw with Schalke. Once again, they dominated the tie – racking up 69% possession and 14 shots.

Thanks to their opening two results, Gladbach have lost just one of their previous 12 encounters across all competitions.

It is also worth noting that both teams have scored in each of Gladbach’s previous eight games, meaning we should see plenty of action at both ends on Friday.

As for Hertha, they suffered a 3-1 defeat to arch-rivals Union Berlin on the opening weekend – conceding a whopping 19 shots.

Despite seeing just 38% possession last time out, the capital club claimed a 1-1 draw with Eintracht Frankfurt.

Due to a dismal end to the previous campaign, Hertha have only managed to win two of their last 15 away games in all competitions.

Let’s not forget that Hertha narrowly avoided relegation last season, finishing 12 points behind Gladbach.

Head-to-head: Gladbach have managed to win just two of their previous eight Bundesliga matches against Hertha, suffering three defeats along the way.

Since 12 of the past 17 league meetings between Gladbach and Hertha have produced over 2.5 goals, we should see a high-scoring clash on Friday.

Team news: Gladbach will be without club captain Lars Stindl on Friday, as he continues to recover from a hamstring injury.

Hertha currently have four players sidelined through injury – Dong-jun Lee, Marco Richter, Jessic Ngankam and Kelian Nsona.

It’s fair to say that Gladbach have made an impressive start to the season. By contrast, Hertha have picked up where they left off last term.

For that reason, Forebet predicts that Borussia Monchengladbach will notch a high-scoring win over Hertha Berlin – netting over 2.5 goals on their way to victory.
