The 2022/23 La Liga season is underway in Spain and in the second round of fixtures we have a meeting between Sevilla and Real Valladolid.
The game will be played on the 19th of August at the Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán and both teams come into the match without a point to their name.

Sevilla started the season with a trip to Osasuna. They began poorly and conceded the opening goal after only 9 minutes but it did not take long for Sevilla to strike back and they scored the equaliser just 2 minutes later.
However, with only 16 minutes of the match remaining, Osasuna were awarded a penalty and that was enough to seal maximum points for the hosts.
It was a disappointing start to the season for Sevilla who were difficult to beat at the end of the previous campaign. They had gone 6 league games without defeat but that run was ended at the beginning of this season.
Home form in La Liga shows Sevilla have won only 1 of their 4 most recent league games at the Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán.
In fact, they have won only 2 of their last 6 La Liga fixtures on home soil, with the wins coming over Granada and Athletic Bilbao. Trends show there have been under 2.5 goals in Sevilla’s 3 most recent home league matches.
Real Valladolid make the trip to the Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán on the back of a 3-0 loss at home to Villarreal last weekend.
It was their first fixture back in the topflight having been relegated at the end of the 2020/21 season but it appears nothing has changed for Real Valladolid.
Having held Villarreal at 0-0 for 45 minutes, they conceded 3 goals in the second half to lose the game.
Going back to the 2020/21 season, the defeat against Villarreal means Real Valladolid have lost each of their last 5 La Liga fixtures. In fact, they have failed to win any of their 13 most recent La Liga games, which is a poor record.
Away form in La Liga shows Real Valladolid have failed to win any of their last 10 matches. They have lost 3 of their last 5 on the road and have seen under 2.5 goals in 6 of their last 9 away games in the Spanish topflight.
Looking ahead to the team news and Sevilla could be without midfielder Thomas Delaney due to concussion. He is the only player who is a doubt going into this match for the hosts.
Real Valladolid travel without the injured trio of Gonzalo Plata, Jawad El Yamiq, Monchu, and Shon Weissman. They also have doubts over the fitness of Sergio Escudero.
Sevilla may not keep a clean sheet in this game but they are the clear favourites to take maximum points. We expect to see both teams scoring and the hosts to win the game by a one goal margin.
