Roma are coming off of winning the Europa Conference League last season. Now, hopes and expectations are high that Roma can contend for a Champions League place.
The Giallorossi finished sixth in the league seven points off of fourth place. Now, Jose Mourinho, in his second season at Roma, is aiming for more success in the Italian capital. Roma have sold more season tickets to fans than they had in years. Support is high in Rome for the Giallorossi.

Salernitana made the great escape from the relegation zone last term. In the end, The Granata ended the campaign by one point. Even claiming two points from the last nine available didn’t stop Salernitana from staying up.
This season could be much more difficult for Salernitana. The Granata will have a new set of teams to battle for relegation.
Roma did the double over Salernitana last season. The Giallorossi went to Salernitana and posted a 4-0 win early in the campaign. The reverse fixture ended 2-1 in favour of Salernitana.
Mourinho has recruited well in the offseason. Roma’s marquee signing was Paulo Dybala, who arrived on a free from Juventus. He could partner last season’s high scorer Tammy Abraham in attack. Abraham scored 17 goals in 37 appearances in Serie A.
Georginio Wijnaldum has arrived on a loan, while Nemanja Matic joined on a free transfer from Man United. Right-back Zeki Celik has joined to upgrade the defence. Justin Kluivert has also joined the club in the offseason.
Salernitana’s signings have been much more modest. Having stayed up, the club has strengthened in the offseason.
Centre-back Matteo Lovato has joined from Atalanta. Left-back Domagol Bradaric arrived from Lille. Meanwhile, the club is still trying to sign a striker and Brighton’s Neal Maupay is at the top of their transfer target list.
Coach David Nicola arrived at Salernitana in January last season and inspired the team to survival. He will hope to continue his magic this term.
Salernitana had the second-worst home points total with 15 from 19 games. The team had a record of 3W-6D-10L. They scored just 17 times while conceding 39 goals.
Roma picked up 27 points from 17 games on the road. The Giallorossi had a record of 8W-3D-8L with 33 goals for and 27 goals conceded.
The Giallorossi should post a win against Salernitana away this weekend to kickstart the new season. The game should finish 3-1 in favour of Roma.
