Saturday afternoon brings us action from the Peruvian top flight and a Primera Division clash between 9th placed Deportivo Municipal and their third from bottom visitors, Carlos Stein, when the two teams meet at the Estadio Municipal Segundo Aranda Torres.
After making a solid start to the new Peru top flight season which saw Dep. Municipal put together an impressive run of nine games and just one defeat but also included six wins in the process as well, Saturday’s hosts had then suffered a sharp decline in form.

Five defeats on the trot followed Deportivo Municipal’s promising start to the new season and included losses against Sporting Cristal, Melgar, Sport Huancayo, Cajamarca and Alianza Lima respectively, which resulted in Dep. Municipal dropping down the league table to 9th place.
However, although Dep. Municipal have lost their last three home games on the trot as well, this Saturday’s clash against lowly Carlos Stein represents a golden opportunity for the hosts to claim back to back wins and push themselves further up the table.
Onto Carlos Stein then, and as mentioned previously, the visitors occupy a lowly third from bottom spot in the Peruvian Primera Division in 17th place as they prepare for this tough looking trip to take on Deportivo Municipal which is made that much tougher following recent back to back defeats.
Losses to Universidad San Martin and Cesar Vallejo have prevented the visitors from rounding off this Apertura term on a positive note thus far, while the bigger picture shows that Carlos Stein have managed to pick up just two wins out of their last 12 matches overall.
Both of these wins, coming in the form of victories over Cajamarca and Academia Cantolao though were achieved on home turf at their Estadio Municipal Francisco Mendoza Pizarro, while the visitors also suffered a total of eight defeats within this 12-game sequence.
To make matters worse, Carlos Stein have also been handed seven defeats on the trot on their travels as well so far this season, conceding a total of 18 goals and scoring just 6 goals in reply, so the prospects of an away win here this Saturday seem highly unlikely.
Having also lost 11 of their last 12 outings on the road, Carlos Stein look to have their work cut out against Dep. Municipal here, with the hosts favourites for the three points in this clash.
