The sixth and final game of the group stages in the Copa Libertadores takes place this Wednesday as Brazilian giants Palmeiras welcome Venezualan side Deportivo Tachira to the Allianz Parque in search of the perfect score in Group A.

It’s been a sensational first few months in the season for Palmeiras, and in reality, they only trail Corinthians in the Brazilian Serie A by two points with their one extra draw from the first season games of the season.

So far, the club have managed to win three of their first seven Serie A games, and along with those three draws, they have lost only once and boast of the best defensive record in Brazil (5 goals conceded) in the first few weeks of the season.

At the same time for Palmeiras, their only defeat in the league season came six weeks ago, meaning they have gone the majority of the season without tasting defeat, and along with their excellent Copa Libertadores record, this remains their only defeat of the season.

On the continental stage, Palmeiras have made easy work of their group stage campaign, with them smashing everyone in their path.

The club have won five games, not dropped a single point, and have even scored 21 times from their five fixtures to date, conceding only once.

Last time out in the Copa Libertadores, the Brazilian side beat Emelec 1-0, as Danilo scored once more. This was, in reality, their worst performance in the competition so far, and it still brought in a 1-0 win.

This will also be the second time they've met with Tachira in the competition too, as they demolished the Venezeulan side 4-0 away from home with goals from Dudu, Raphael Veiga, and a brace from Rafael Navarro.

As for Tachira, they have hit a bit of form in the past two weeks after an early struggle in both the domestic and continental competitions.

Their recent win over Mineros de Guayana in the league has brought them into fifth, while the San Cristóbal club beat Independiente Petrolero in the Copa Libertadores to help move on from their damning 4-1 loss to Emelec in the previous gameweek.

On the other hand, Tachira have now won only five times in the Venezuelan Primera Division from their 13 games, and have let in 18 goals in the process, which is by a distance the worst defensive record in the top seven of the league.

Palmeiras should get the job done once more here, and Forebet predicts them to win and the game to see over 2.5 goals.
