If the widespread rumours are true, Robert Lewandowski could well have played his final game for Bayern Munich.

It has been reported that Lewandowski, 33, will not sign a new contract with the German giants after the club said he wanted to leave.

Naturally, the spotlight will be on the Polish striker’s next move. But it also feels like the perfect time to look back at his phenomenal eight-year career in Bavaria.

Lewandowski joined Bayern Munich from Borussia Dortmund on a free transfer back in 2014 after running down his deal Signal Iduna Park.

The rest, as they say, is history.

Since joining the Bavarians, Lewandowski has won the Bundesliga title in all eight of his seasons with the club. Let’s not forget that he also fired Bayern to Champions League glory in 2020.

As it stands, the prolific marksman has netted 344 goals in 374 games for Bayern – making him the club’s second-highest scorer of all time behind Gerd Muller.

It is also worth noting that Lewandowski finds himself second on the Bundesliga’s all-time goalscoring leaderboard. Once again, he sits behind the legendary Muller on that leaderboard.

However, he did manage to break one of Muller’s records. In 2021, Lewandowski broke Muller’s 49-year record for most Bundesliga goals in a calendar year – bagging 43 in 34 outings.

Better still, the 33-year-old has won each of the past five Bundesliga Golden Boots. That means he has seven Bundesliga Golden Boots under his belt.

He also clinched the European Golden Shoe last year, netting 41 goals on his way to securing the silverware.

Despite winning countless individual awards in 2021, Lewandowski finished second in the Ballon d’Or voting. Even so, Lionel Messi – who won the award – stated that Lewandowski deserved to win.

Barcelona have emerged as the early frontrunners to secure Lewandowski's signature, but will the Pole go to La Liga? PSG are also among his admirers, although that move looks less likely.

If he fancies a move to the Premier League, Manchester United and Chelsea are both reported to be interested in acquiring his services.

At the end of the day, Lewandoski will have no shortage of suitors this summer. After all, he is good enough to walk into any team on the planet.

Having scored goals a frightening rate for Bayern Munich over the past eight season, the 33-year-old still has so much to offer.
