Wolfsburg and Union Berlin will clash at the Volkswagen Arena this Saturday as the two clubs meet in topsy-turvy form where draws, defeats and wins have all come in for both sides in a wild 2022.
As of now, nine points separate the two with Union Berlin up into seventh in the table in the midst of one of their best ever seasons, while Florian Kohfeldt's men are enduring one of their worst in recent times as the club are down in 12th with only 28 points from 24 games.
Wolfsburg are now sitting with a worrying 12 losses in the Bundesliga already this season, which means they have lost exactly 50% of the games they've played this season in the league.
Combine this with the alarming statistics of 26 goals scored and 37 conceded, and the Wolves really are in poor form this campaign.
In fact, it's two games without a win now for Wolfsburg following a 2-2 draw with Borussia Monchengladbach last time out, after losing to Hoffenheim at the Volkswagen Arena a week prior.
The club’s last win was almost a month ago as they beat Eintracht Frankfurt 2-0, but worse yet for Wolfsburg, Maxence Lacroix was sent off against Gladbach and will now miss this one.
Union Berlin, however, are aiming to improve on their best-ever finish in the Bundesliga last season where they finished seventh and brutally only two points off a place in the Europa Conference League.
Now, however, they are back into seventh and only sit 13 points below where they ended up last campaign and the club are currently on course for their best Bundesliga season to date.
The Berlin side are on a two-game winning streak as they are now into the semi-finals of the DFB-Pokal after beating St. Pauli 2-1, while the club also eased past Mainz with a 3-1 scoreline in the league last weekend.
This did end a previous three-game run without a win for the side too, as they lost to Borussia Dortmund, Augsburg, and Arminia Bielefeld, and it now leaves the club with exactly 32 goals scored and 32 conceded in the Bundesliga after registering their 10th league win.
