Real Valladolid will be looking to enhance their promotion hopes when Sporting Gijon visit Estadio Jose Zorrilla on Friday night.

Valladolid find themselves third in Spain’s Segunda Division, two points ahead of fourth-place Tenerife and two points behind the top two – Eibar and Almeria.

As for Sporting Gijon, they sit twelfth in the standings – 12 points shy of Valladolid and 11 points clear of the bottom four.

Real Valladolid have lost just six of their 24 Segunda Division matches this season, picking up 13 wins and four draws along the way.

Thanks to a run of four wins and a draw, they head into Friday’s clash on a five-game unbeaten streak in the league.

It is also worth noting that Valladolid have kept a clean sheet in each of their previous four Segunda Division clashes.

Looking at the bigger picture, Valladolid have lost just one of their past seven matches across all competitions – securing five wins and a draw in the process.

Having netted 35 goals in 24 games (1.46 goals per game), Valladolid are among the highest scorers in the division.

On the flip side, Sporting Gijon have recorded eight wins, eight draws and eight losses this term – underlining their unpredictability.

Just like Valladolid, Sporting are currently enjoying a five-match unbeaten streak in the Segunda Division.

They have won two and drawn three of their previous five league encounters, although they only managed to keep one clean sheet in that time.

Across all competitions, Sporting Gijon have lost just one of their last 11 matches inside 90 minutes – losing to Cadiz on penalties in the Copa del Rey.

It is worth pointing out that seven of Sporting’s last eight encounters have produced over 1.5 goals, with four of those games dishing up over 2.5 goals.

Head-to-head: Real Valladolid have won each of their last three league meetings with Sporting, scoring over 1.5 goals in each occasion.

Sporting Gijon have only managed to win one of their last ten competitive clashes with Valladolid, suffering seven defeats during that period.

Team news: Valladolid will be without the injured duo of Hugo Vallejo and El Hacen on Friday, while Gambia international Saidy Janko is away at AFCON.

Sporting have a couple of injury absentees, too, with attacking midfielder Pablo Perez and goalkeeper Ivan Cuellar on the sidelines.

Although Sporting have upped their game in recent weeks, high-flying Valladolid should have more than enough firepower to claim all three points on Friday.

Forebet predicts that Valladolid will score over 1.5 goals on their way to victory, keeping a clean sheet in the process.
