Arsenal will be looking to put Monday’s defeat to Everton behind them when they welcome Southampton to the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.

The Gunners find themselves seventh in the Premier League table – four points outside the top four – having lost three of their past four games.

Meanwhile, Saints sit sixteenth – seven points behind Arsenal and six points clear of the relegation zone – following a four-match winless streak.

Mikel Arteta’s side conceded two goals after the 80-minute mark to lose 2-1 to Everton last time out, despite seeing 64% possession.

That defeat means they have lost three of their previous four Premier League outings. On a more positive note, they have won four of their last seven.

The Gunners are currently enjoying an eight-game unbeaten streak on home soil and have lost just one of their past 12 encounters at the Emirates.

Not only have Arsenal won each of their previous four home matches, but they have also kept a clean sheet in each of their last three.

On the flip side, Southampton’s winless run was stretched to four games by Brighton last weekend as the Seagulls netted a 98th-minute equaliser at St. Mary’s.

Saints have taken just two points from their past four matches, registering two draws and two defeats in the process.

When you look at the bigger picture, the south coast side have only managed to win three of their 15 Premier League games this term.

That said, they have recorded seven draws. Only one team – Brighton – have racked up more draws than Southampton this season.

Head-to-head: Southampton have managed to win just one of their previous six meetings with Arsenal in all competitions.

It is also worth noting that Arsenal have netted over 1.5 goals in eight of their last 11 matches against Saints.

Team news: Arsenal will be without the injured Sead Kolasinac on Saturday. Bernd Leno, Emile Smith Rowe and Gabriel Martinelli are also doubts.

As for Saints, Oriol Romeu and Mohamed Salisu are both suspended, while Jan Bednarek, Fraser Forster, Alex McCarthy and Stuart Armstrong are all injured.

Although Arsenal have suffered more league defeats than Southampton this season, there is no denying that Arteta’s side are the stronger of the two teams.

For that reason, Forebet predicts that Arsenal will score over 2.5 goals and keep a clean sheet on their way to dispatching Saints.
