Bolivia will welcome Uruguay to the Olympic Stadium Hernando Siles where the two still have the chance to make it into the automatic qualification spots in the CONMEBOL side of things following a very topsy-turvy group stage so far.

Uruguay have fallen very short in this group stage qualification process where they usually excel and manage to secure a ticket to the World Cup in relatively easy fashion.

Often, the likes of Ecuador and Chile succumb to Uruguay, but this time around, Luis Suarez and co. are chasing such nations down and hoping they now lose in order for them to succeed.

This comes after Uruguay lost their fifth game of the group stages in South America from only 13 games, meaning they have now won four, drawn four and lost five.

More worryingly, however, is the fact they’ve only managed to score 14 times in these 13 games and concede 18, which is perhaps just as surprising as their results.

Only managing 14 goals in 13 games for such a huge nation is one thing, but considering Bolivia also have 17 goals in this time, it really does shine a light on how far Uruguay have actually fallen in this CONMEBOL scrap for a ticket to Qatar 2022.

Most recently, Óscar Tabárez’s side lost out to Argentina 1-0 where Angel Di Maria scored the game’s only goal which threw Uruguay out of the top four automatic spots and into the area where they are now fighting with hope that other sides drop points like Colombia.

Just prior to this, the two-time world champions lost out to Brazil 4-1 and again to Argentina 3-0, which means they’ve let in eight goals in their past three games, scored just one and lost all three which has sent them tumbling at an alarming rate.

Now, simply put, anything but a win against Bolivia and it could well spell the end for them at next year’s World Cup.

As for Bolivia, they can still qualify but will need a lot of luck too as the likes of Chile and Colombia likely need to crash out of the top four. Nevertheless, they have won three of their last four games and a victory here could put them within touching distance of the automatic spots.

Regardless, César Farías’ side have let in 28 goals in this group stage, which is more than any other side and as a result, Forebet predicts Uruguay’s firepower to be too much and for them to win in a game that sees over 2.5 goals.
