Bologna will play hosts to AC Milan at the Renato Dall'Ara Stadium this weekend as the home side look to break into the top eight while Milan attempt to hunt down Napoli who sit top of the table just ahead of them.

It really has been a sensational campaign for Milan in Italy, but their woes in the Champions League returned again in midweek as they lost to Porto to make it three defeats from three games which all but guarantees they won’t make it into the knockout rounds in their first season back in the big time.

Milan looked really poor in that game. They lacked many chances and Stefano Pioli’s men really couldn’t get a grip on the game throughout, which all but sums up their Champions League campaign this year.

Nevertheless, things are very different back in Italy and there can be no two ways about it anymore: Milan are back.

In a season where they finished second last campaign, the club have moved forward tremendously to establish themselves as serious title contenders this year.

As of now, Napoli sit at the summit by two points, but they face a tough away trip to Jose Mourinho’s Roma, so a win for Milan here is vital.

Pioli’s side have only dropped two points so far this campaign, and if it wasn’t for Napoli not dropping a single point in eight games, they might just be the favourites for the title. Now, with 18 goals scored and seven conceded from eight games, Milan are the clear favourites here.

What also gives the San Siro side a boost is just how many goalscorers they have now at their disposal.

In fact, in their last nine goals in Serie A, a different goalscorer has bagged each one and this is without the exceptional ability of Zlatan Ibrahimovic having an input.

Bologna, on the other hand, have had a topsy-turvy start to the 2021/22 season.

They currently sit in eighth and have won three of their games so far and lost just two, which actually keeps them on the heels of Juventus early on, who are only two points ahead of them.

Bologna have also managed to go the last two games unbeaten, where they drew 1-1 with Udinese but in their clash with Lazio, they ran out 3-0 winners in one of the results of the season.

Nevertheless, it’s hard not to back Milan here, and Forebet predicts an away win in a game that sees over 2.5 goals.
