Nice are playing well this season under new manager Christoph Galtier. The Eagles sit in fourth place with 16 points from 27 points on offer. However, the team is coming off of a surprise 1-0 loss away to Troyes on matchday 9.

At lunchtime on Sunday, Nice will host Ligue 1 rival Lyon in a top-six clash. Peter Bosz’s team has taken 16 points from 30 on offer. They could move above Nice in the table with a win on the road.

Unlike Nice, Lyon are coming off of a Thursday night Europa League fixture. Les Gones came from two goals down at Sparta Prague to win the game 4-3 and take firm control of their group.

Lyon have posted the league’s third-best points total over the course of the last six games. They took 11 points from 18 on offer with four straight matches finishing without a loss. Lyon outscored their last six opponents 11-6.

Nice took 10 points from the last 18 on offer in Ligue 1. They outscored their last six opponents 9-5, but three of Nice's last five matches in Ligue 1 finished without a victory.

The 2020-21 fixtures in Ligue 1 between Nice and Lyon were both won by the away team.

Lyon went to Nice and claimed a 4-1 win against the Eagles. Memphis Depay opened the scoring from a penalty and Tino Kadewere added a goal before the 39-minute mark.

Nice got back into the game thanks to Amine Gouiri on 43 minutes. After halftime, Lyon scored twice through Karl Toko Ekambi and Houssem Aouar in the second period to win the game.

Bosz has four players on the Lyon injury list. Forward Islam Slimani has a muscle injury and is a doubt. Forward Moussa Dembele has a calf injury and could miss the fixture. Forward Lenny Pintor and midfielder Jeff Reine-Adelaide are both returning from ACL injuries, but are doubts to play.

Nice manager Galtier has three players that could miss the fixture. Defender Robson Bambu has an ankle issue and is unlikely to play the game. Defender Melvin Bard could play following an ankle issue. Justin Kluivert has a muscle strain, but is in line for a return to the team.

The Eagles have drawn two of four matches at home this season. Lyon, on the other hand, may be in form but have not been great on the road this season in Ligue 1 with a record of 1W-1D-2L.

These teams should play out a stalemate in the end with under 2.5 goals scored and both teams scoring.
