On Wednesday night, Young Boys host Villarreal at the Stadion Wankdorf, in what could be a vital game for both team’s prospects in Group F of the Champions League.
Young Boys have enjoyed an inconsistent start to their Champions League campaign. The Swiss team began their Group F journey with a 2-1 win over Manchester United. However, last time out, David Wagner’s team suffered a 1-0 defeat at Atalanta.

The two results have been part of the group being very open. Young Boys are currently third-place in the group, but a win could see them sit top of the group if the result in the other game goes their way.
However, a defeat and the Swiss team could end up bottom of the group by the end of play on Wednesday.
Young Boys have been difficult to beat in the Champions League of late, as before the defeat against Atalanta, they were unbeaten in seven matches in the competition, including qualifying rounds.
Villarreal have made a poor start to their campaign all around. Unai Emery’s team currently sit in 12th place in La Liga and they are also bottom of Group F.
A 2-1 home defeat against Osasuna last time out means that Emery’s team have now won just one of their previous four games in all competitions.
The Yellow Submarine followed up a 2-2 draw against Atalanta with a 2-1 defeat against Manchester United in the Champions League. In truth, though, Emery’s team were arguably slightly unfortunate to come away from Old Trafford empty-handed.
The result may not have come as much of a surprise to many, as the visitors have a woeful record in the Champions League. The Spanish side has failed to win any of their previous ten games in European football’s elite competition, suffering nine defeats in the process.
