England hold an almost unassailable lead at the summit of WCQ Group I as they prepare to host Hungary at Wembley on Tuesday night.

The Three Lions find themselves four points clear of second-place Albania – and nine points ahead of fourth-place Hungary.

Gareth Southgate’s side thrashed the Hungarians 4-0 just last month, netting four second-half goals to silence a hostile home crowd in Budapest.

Last time out, England hammered Andorra 5-0 – meaning they have won six and drawn one of their seven qualifiers this campaign.

Southgate’s men have netted a mammoth 23 goals (3.3 goals per game) in Group I and have conceded just twice in the process.

When you look at the bigger picture, England have only lost one of their past 17 matches across all competitions – the Euro 2020 final defeat to Italy.

The Three Lions have bounced back from their European Championship heartbreak in style, claiming three wins and a draw since then.

Hungary, on the other hand, failed to win a single game at Euro 2020 and have since struggled to enhance their World Cup hopes.

They have lost three of their four qualifiers since the Euros and only managed to beat Andorra 2-1 last month.

It is also worth noting that Hungary have failed to score in three of their previous four qualifiers, underlining their offensive woes.

With minnow duo San Marino and Andorra the only teams below them in Group I, it’s fair to say that Hungary have endured a poor qualifying campaign up to now.

Head-to-head: Hungary’s last victory over England came all the way back in 1962. Since then, the Three Lions have claimed 12 wins and two draws in this fixture.

England have won each of their last three meetings with Hungary, scoring over 2.5 goals on two occasions. They have also won six of their previous seven encounters.

Team news: Southgate is expected to name a much-changed starting XI on Tuesday, having left big-hitters like Harry Kane and Raheem Sterling on the bench against Andorra.

Hungary have RB Leipzig trio Willi Orban, Peter Gulacsi and Dominik Szoboszlai available for selection. Roland Sallai is expected to lead the line.

Considering what happened in their previous meeting last month, England should seal an easy victory over Hungary at Wembley.

Forebet predicts that England will score over 2.5 goals and keep a clean sheet on their way to dispatching Hungary.
