Argentina are unbeaten in their last five games against Uruguay. On Sunday, the Argentines will host Uruguay in Buenos Aires on matchday 11 of CONMEBOL World Cup qualifying.

Uruguay head into the game on Sunday following a nil-nil draw with Colombia. The Sky Blues are level on points with third-place Ecuador, but sit fourth thanks to goal difference.

A win for Uruguay on Sunday would take them level on points with Argentina in CONMEBOL World Cup standings.

Argentina have a game in hand, however. Lionel Scaloni’s team could only draw with Paraguay on Thursday as the game finished nil-nil.

Argentina are on a brilliant run of form. Scaloni’s side has not lost in any of its last 15 matches. Nine of those 15 games ended in wins for the Argentines.

Uruguay are on an eight-game unbeaten run. Four of those eight matches ended in wins for Oscar Tabarez’s team. Uruguay’s last loss came against Argentina in the Copa America over the summer. Guido Rodriguez’s first half goal gave Argentina the win.

Ten of Uruguay’s last 11 matches finished with under 2.5 goals scored. Five of those 11 games ended with both teams not scoring goals.

Seven of Argentina’s last 12 matches finished with under 2.5 goals scored. Their last two games ended with both teams not scoring goals.

Scaloni played a 4-2-3-1 formation against Paraguay in midweek. Rodrigo De Paul and Leandro Paredes started in midfield while Lionel Messi played behind Joaquin Correra. Lautaro Martinez is not a part of the squad following an injury.

Alejandro Gomez came on as a substitute for Argentina against Paraguay, but could get a start on Sunday. Martinez’s absence limits the attacking options Scaloni has to choose from.

Luis Suarez started in attack for Uruguay in a 4-3-3 formation versus Colombia. Tabarez started Edinson Cavani on the bench. The manager could start Suarez and Cavani in attack together to improve Uruguay’s chances of scoring.

Flamengo player Giorgian De Arrascaeta is in line to start once more on the right side of the Uruguay attack. De Arrascaeta has scored twice in Uruguay’s last two games.

Uruguay can move level on points with Argentina with a win on Sunday. However, their form against the Argentines has not been good over the course of the teams’ last five games. Argentina should continue their excellent form versus Uruguay this weekend.

Both teams should score as Argentina and Uruguay draw at full-time. The game should finish with under 2.5 goals at the end of full-time.
