Fresh from crushing Oldham Athletic 7-0 in the EFL Cup in midweek, Brentford face a much sterner test this weekend, as they welcome Liverpool to West London on Saturday.

Jurgen Kloop’s men beat Norwich City 3-0 on Tuesday, extending their unbeaten run to seven games in all competitions this term.

In the Premier League table, Liverpool sit second on 13 points – five points ahead of ninth-place Brentford.

It’s fair to say that Thomas Frank’s side have made an impressive start to life in the Premier League, losing just one of their opening five matches.

Brantford kicked off their campaign with a three-game unbeaten streak before losing to Brighton on Matchday 4.

They returned to winning ways last weekend, however, beating Wolves 2-0 thanks to a dominant performance at Molineux.

Marcus Forss netted four goals in Brentford’s 7-0 mauling of Oldham on Tuesday, with Yoane Wissa bagging a brace.

It is worth pointing out that Frank’s men have now lost just three of their previous 30 home matches in all competitions.

Thanks to an easy 3-0 victory over Norwich in midweek, Liverpool have now avoided defeat in each of their last 16 outings in all competitions.

They have also lost just four of their previous 27 away games, winning each of their last six matches on their travels.

Klopp’s side have made a near-perfect start to the season, picking up four wins and a draw in the league, as well as beating AC Milan 3-2 in the Champions League.

Not only are the Reds the joint-second highest scorers in England’s top tier, but they also boast the joint-best defensive record.

Head-to-head: Believe it or not, the last meeting between Brentford and Liverpool came all the way back in 1989. The Reds claimed a 4-0 win in the FA Cup on that occasion.

The two sides have met a total of 15 times in all competitions over the years, with the Bees winning just three times.

Team news: Brentford will be without the suspended Shandon Baptiste on Saturday, while Mads Sorensen and Joshua Dasilva are both injured.

Liverpool, meanwhile, have Thiago Alcantara, Harvey Elliott, Neco Williams and Roberto Firmino on the sidelines.

Although this is destined to be a tight affair, Liverpool are expected to flex their muscles and grind out a narrow win.

Forebet predicts that Liverpool will score just a single goal on Saturday. The visitors are also likely to keep a clean sheet, securing a slender victory in the process.
