Ligue 1 basement dwellers, Metz, face the toughest test of this season’s campaign to date despite holding home advantage at their Stade Saint-Symphorien as the hosts currently sit bottom of the division with just three points to their name.
These three points for Metz came in the form of draws with Lille 3-3 and Reims 1-1, both at home, along with a point on the road at Clermont but defeats against Nantes, Troyes and Strasbourg suggest this could be a tough campaign for Metz.

The bigger picture doesn’t paint too bright a picture either for Metz as the hosts have managed to collect just the one win from their last 17 matches overall in Ligue 1 which was an emphatic 5-1 win away at relegated Dijon towards the end of last season.
Within this poor sequence of results, Metz also tasted defeat on 10 occasions, one of which was a heavy 3-1 loss at home to Wednesday’s opponents, PSG, back in April of last season, while the hosts have also lost in each of the previous 11 meetings against the Paris giants.
PSG continued their early march to wrestling back the Ligue 1 title on the weekend when they registered a 2-1 home win against Lyon, making it six wins on the trot for the visitors and also maintained their 100% winning record in Ligue 1 this term as well.
The recent victory over Lyon became PSG’s 12th win in 13 games overall in the French top flight and the Paris club seem to be determined to grab the league title back for themselves this season as they’ve impressed in the early stages of this campaign.
In each of their six wins to date, PSG have scored 2 goals or more on each occasion and the visitors look set to continue this trend against a poor Metz outfit who have shipped a total of 13 goals so far this season.
PSG will be keen to exploit a shaky Metz defence here this Wednesday night as they look to open up a gap at the top of Ligue 1.
This certainly looks to be on the cards as Metz have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last 11 home games at their Stade Saint-Symphorien and they’re facing Ligue 1’s leading goalscorers in this clash.
