Celta Vigo and Cadiz have got off to poor starts this season in La Liga, and a relegation battle could be on the cards for the Spanish rivals. On Friday night, the two teams will meet at the Estadio de Balaídos with three big points on the line.
The Sky Blues are in the relegation zone after four games with a mere one point from 12 on offer. Eduardo Coudet’s team are coming off of back-to-back losses to Athletic Bilbao and Real Madrid. Coudet will hope that the fixture list eases a bit going forward with Cadiz up next.

Cadiz are 16th in the table with two points from 12 possible. After back-to-back draws to start the season, the Yellow Submarine have lost two straight games. Cadiz were beaten 3-2 by Osasuna and 2-0 by Real Sociedad.
Alvaro Cervera’s team have conceded seven times this season and scored four goals. It was the team’s goalscoring that was a major problem last year. Cadiz scored 36 goals and gave up 58 goals at the other end.
Coudet’s Celta Vigo have conceded eight times this term. Five of those goals came last weekend in a 5-2 loss to Real Madrid. Just three times this season have Celta Vigo scored. They were held scoreless in two games and finished two matches with both teams scoring goals.
Last season was Cadiz’s first time back in the Spanish top flight since 2006. Celta Vigo took four points from six possible in La Liga against the Yellow Submarine last term. The Sky Blues won the teams’ game at the Estadio de Balaídos 4-0. The reverse fixture in Cadiz finished nil-nil.
The latest reports claim Coudet has no new injury issues going into the match on Friday night at home. In contrast, Cervera has two players on the injury list as Jose Mari and Jon Ander Garrido could both miss out. Garrido has a tendon injury while Mari is nursing a muscle problem.
Cervera will be without defender Cala. The defender is suspended following a red card sending off. Cadiz have drawn two of their four matches this season. Celta Vigo have drawn one game while losing three times.
Friday night’s La Liga match between Celta Vigo and Celta Vigo is likely to finish in a draw as neither team can get the upper hand.
Based on both teams’ poor goalscoring records this season, the game should end with under 2.5 goals and a stalemate.
