PSG narrowly missed out on claiming the French top flight Ligue 1 title at the end of last season as they were pipped at the post by Lille.
Saturday’s hosts have made an impressive start to this new Ligue 1 campaign as they sit top of the league with a 100% winning record.

Victories over Troyes 2-1, Strasbourg 4-2, Brest 4-2 and a 2-0 win away at Reims have handed Mauricio Pochettino’s side the perfect start to this new Ligue 1 season and they’ll no doubt be keen to extend their winning start to five matches when they play host to Clermont at the Parc des Princes on Saturday afternoon.
Despite missing out on the domestic top flight title last season, the bigger picture shows that PSG are now unbeaten in their last 11 matches overall, winning 10 of these, while goals have also flowed during this period as well with eight of these 11 games also resulting in over 2.5 goals.
Clermont Foot have also made a solid start to this new Ligue 1 season as the visitors currently sit in 3rd place and still remain unbeaten after their opening four games of this new campaign.
Early back-to-back wins against Bordeaux and Troyes in 2-0 wins respectively along with points gained in draws with Lyon 3-3 and Metz 2-2 have also helped Clermont to a promising start to this new term.
This is Clermont Foot’s first ever season in the domestic top flight and although they lost three of their final five away games at the end of last season’s Ligue 2 campaign, Clermont still achieved promotion.
The visitors have also won four of their last five matches on their travels, three of which were in pre-season friendlies but this upcoming clash at Parc des Princes on Saturday afternoon will undoubtedly be their toughest test, perhaps even in their club history!
Clermont have kept just one clean sheet in their last five away games overall in all competitions and this could be the key difference between the two sides this weekend.
PSG and Clermont Foot have never previously met in any competition before but PSG should be raring to go again after the international break and a home win with goals looks the likely outcome here.
